The title of this novel indicates that this work of fiction is inspired by the legend of Siyavush in the epic poem “Shahnama” by Ferdowsi. It comprises 23 chapters and describes the political, cultural, and social events that occurred after the British invasion of Shiraz during the Second World War. Hence, in this context, the historical novel Savushun, written by Simin Daneshvar and containing mythological elements, is considered as one of the most remarkable works in modern Iranian literature. Particularly, in Iranian literature, traces of mythology can be observed in modern novels. In Iranian and world literature, authors refer to mythology in creating their works.
